The City of Bainbridge Island is seeking proposals for tourism projects and activities for 2020. Approved projects would be funded by the City’s Civic Improvement Fund.
Proposals must be for tourism marketing projects, marketing and operations of special events or festivals, the operation of eligible tourism-related facilities, or capital expenses for an eligible tourism-related facility. Civic Improvement Funds may be used to create new tourism promotion programs or to support or enhance existing programs.
“Each year, the City provides significant funding to a wide range of island events and local organizations. Funds are awarded to festivals and concerts large and small, and to nonprofit destinations like our local museums and galleries,” said City Manager Morgan Smith. “These are activities that are enjoyed by visitors and islanders alike, and that help to make our community an interesting and active place to visit and live.”
For 2020, there are approximately $275,000 in Civic Improvement Funds available for distribution to support selected projects. Applicants may seek a minimum award of $2,000 and a maximum award of $137,500 (to reflect 50 percent of total available funds). Successful applicants will be required to enter into a professional services agreement with the City to provide the services or products outlined in their proposals.
Proposals will be provided to the City’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) for review and comment. The LTAC will provide its recommendation to the City Council for a final funding decision.
