Debbi Lester has many years of experience as a community and business leader on Bainbridge Island. Her community experience includes coordinating lobbying efforts in Olympia for Puget Sound ferry-served communities to keep ferry fares fair and service dependable ; promoting the local arts and business communities; promoting renewable energy and conservation ; encouraging public art, and creating community gardens. Her business experience comes from 20 years of publishing Art Access magazine, one of the leading arts publications in the Northwest.

 

 

Ms. Lester is a graduate of the School of Fine Art of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She currently serves on the board of the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council Transportation Policy Board, the Ferry Community Partnership, and the Housing Kitsap.  Ms. Lester lives with her husband, Ryan Vancil,  in an historic home on Ericksen Avenue. Their two grown children are now juniors in college.
