Description: In spring 2009, the City experienced a sewer beach main break in Eagle Harbor and repairs were made shortly thereafter by City crews. Due to this event, Public Works staff recommends further study of the conditions of the mains.
The Sewer Beach Main Rehabilitation pre-design project consists of analyzing the integrity and remaining life of the beach main piping system which consists of aging ductile iron pipe. These sewer mains were installed in 1979 and are aging faster than normal due to their location in the intertidal zone of Eagle Harbor.
This study will determine the condition of these sewer mains, their remaining serviceable life span, replacement strategies, costs, and the potential for re-routing the distribution system.
