The Police Department provides a variety of services for the community:
Alarm Registration
Bainbridge Island property owners with burglary, robbery or panic alarms installed in their premises are required to register their alarm systems. Completion of the
Alarm Registration form and payment of the $50 registration fee is required to register a premises. The registration form and payment may be delivered or mailed to the Police Department.
Animal License
Owners of dogs must obtain a license; cat licensing is optional. If your animal is spayed or neutered, the cost is $6 for lifetime tag. For animals who are not spayed or neutered, the fee is $25 per year.
Concealed Weapons Permit
A Concealed Weapons Permit allows you to carry a weapon concealed. It is also needed if you are transporting a weapon. However, a Concealed Weapons Permit is not needed if a weapon is being kept at a place of business or home. The cost is $55.25 for a 5-year permit. Fingerprinting is required. Issuance can take up to 30 days. Contact the Police Department for an appointment and to confirm the permit fee prior to visiting the Police Department.
Downtown Winslow Business Employee Parking Program
Employee parking permits are available through the Police Department to any downtown commercial property owner or business with a valid City business license. Permits are valid for six-month periods and this
map shows locations for these employees to park around the downtown area.
All participating businesses and enrolled employees are asked to come to the Bainbridge Island Police Department in person to turn in their signed Employer Participation Form and/or Parking Permit Application and pick up their permit.
Fingerprinting
Fingerprinting services are available at the Police Department by appointment. The cost is $10.
House Checks for Vacationing Residents

If you have an emergency OR if there are known suspects, do not use the online reporting system - call 911.
Safety Education Program (Crime Prevention)
Safety education for neighborhood watch, personal, home and business security is available through the Police Department.
Special event permits regulate events on the City's public streets and public property to protect the public's health, safety and welfare, and are issued for parades, processions and other assemblies occurring on public property. If you are planning an event which involves private use of City-owned public property, or if your event will have significant traffic impacts (i.e. on-street parking), please apply for a special event permit. Contact the department with any questions.
Speeding Complaints
The Police Department maintains a list of people who request speed reader boards, and also receives complaints, and logs and follows up on any speeding complaints submitted.
Traffic Control
Traffic Control may be needed for special events such as funerals, parades, etc, to ensure safety and access for emergency vehicles if necessary. Traffic Control for such events is managed through the Police Department.
Traffic Tickets
Traffic tickets are issued by the Police Department for traffic violations. They can be paid or disputed through the Municipal Court.
